After a friend alerted me that Blueberries were on sale at Aldi for $1.29/pint ... I just had to go out and buy some.
I bought 24 pints! Blueberries are my very favorite fruit - can you tell?
When they are in season I like to pick many pounds of them, unfortunately my schedule and blueberry season had conflicts this year. I only managed to pick about 10 pounds - not enough. Most of them I will freeze so that in the Fall I can make Blueberry Applesauce for my daughter. I'll also use some in Purple Lava.
But I've also got plans for blueberry jam, blueberry muffins, blueberry scones, blueberry cobbler, blueberry buckle, Blueberry Boy Bait... Hmmm ?? I'm sure more ideas will come to me.
Do you have a good recipe for blueberries you'd like to share? I'd love to add it to my collection.

Wow! You go girl!
Great deal. And what a yummy thing to stock up on!
Love it... I wish we had Aldi here... or I really wish for a freezer big one so I can freeze the things we pick. You should try my blueberry pancakes they are to die for
I can't believe I forgot to mention blueberry pancakes! Of course we'll have blueberry pancakes. With blueberry syrup too.
Thanks for stopping by Tasty Traditions and sharing your great advice. I will try that with the Sprite. Have a great day!
I LOVE blueberries too! Pick them every year, just like you. And this year we were away when the berries were ready and I missed them...... just like you. ha ha
One of my favorite recipes is this:
Make some blueberry pie filling, bake a yellow cake, and get some cool whip. In a trifle bowl, crumble some cake, top with blueberry pie filling, then cool whip. Repeat layers (maybe twice if your dish is deep). It is a beautiful dish and so delicious. Every time I make it, there are no leftovers. For the 4th of July, I make one layer with strawberries for a red, white, and blue dessert.
I remember seeing this price at Aldi late in the summer, also a great price on strawberries. I was so excited I was almost dancing in the aisles, pulling people over and pointing out the prices. Got some strange looks, and questions about what I was going to do with them all. How much imagination does it take to create recipes with blueberries and strawberries. Still have some blues tucked away in the freezer. :)
